LaVar Ball explains why LaMelo doesn't need Jordan's advice
LaMelo Ball is having a great rookie year, and according to his father, the young stud doesn't need advice from the GOAT. Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

LaVar Ball marches to the beat of his own drum. Whether he is bashing Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr or going off on the New Orleans Pelicans, the Ball family patriarch always calls it how he sees it.

This week, LaVar did an illuminating interview with "Mason & Ireland" on ESPN L.A. 710.

One of the topics that came up was whether his youngest son LaMelo should take advice from Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan.

LaVar’s answer, as one might expect, was incredible:

“Hey, when you have milk in your refrigerator, and when the damn thing expires, I hope you throw it away.

“Goddammit, when’s the last time he won a championship in the game? If he had to say so, to say this is what you do to get better, the Charlotte Hornets been around a long time before my son got there. Tell some of them guys so you can win, don’t wait to tell my boy. Tell the dudes, tell the other guys.”

So far this year, LaMelo is averaging 16 points per game on 45.3 percent shooting from the field, while also dishing out 6.2 assists and grabbing 5.9 rebounds per outing. Aside from one minor issue, an odd physical altercation with one of his teammates, LaMelo has had a virtually flawless rookie campaign.

With that in mind, maybe LaVar is right about LaMelo not needing Jordan’s advice.
