LaVar Ball re-emerges on brink of LaMelo's draft night

In a wholly predictable development, LaVar Ball has emerged from the shadows and magically resurfaced on the NBA scene just as son LaMelo Ball is about to enjoy his moment in the spotlight.

With LaMelo Ball set to be potentially one of the first three players selected in Wednesday night’s 2020 NBA Draft, the elder Ball is seeking out attention and generating headlines once again. After all, he never stays away for long.

LaVar Ball’s resurfacing stems in large part from his recently revealed thoughts on LaMelo’s ideal landing spot as well as some boorish talk about how all his sons are sadly saddled with what he perceives as the trappings of fame.

In a scene from the documentary series “Ball in the Family,” recorded in August and released this week, LaVar bemoans how the New York Knicks fared in the draft lottery leaves them with little chance to select LaMelo.

“Man! God dang,” LaVar shouted as the Knicks were announced as having the eighth pick, per the New York Daily News. “That was a knockout punch. Something good was supposed to happen for the Knicks. I can’t break all the curses.”

The Knicks of course could maneuver their way into a position where the team could select Ball, but how things will play out Wednesday night remains to be seen.

Moving on to the elder Ball’s uncouth commentary about his sons’ notoriety, LaVar bemoaned how the three are evidently pursued by women ill-suited for them.

Lavar Ball has made completely outrageous and borderline asinine statements his own personal sports media cottage industry over the years. With LaMelo set to hit the NBA stage, it was only a matter of time before LaVar sought to capitalize on the attention that should deservedly be more focused on his son.
