The NFL had some outstanding Christmas ratings even though the NBA's were also great.

According to the NBA, the league had its most-watched Christmas Day in five years, with viewership up 84% compared to last year across all ESPN networks. It averaged 5.25 million viewers per game in the United States.

The Lakers-Warriors was the biggest hit for the NBA on Wednesday, averaging 7.76 million viewers and it peaked with 8.32 million viewers. It was the most-watched NBA regular season and Christmas game in five years.

While those ratings are strong, they still don't hold a candle to the NFL. Over 24 million people tuned in for the Chiefs-Steelers and Ravens-Texans games on Netflix, making them the most-streamed NFL games in U.S. history.

According to the NFL, the viewership for the Ravens-Texans game peaked at over 27 million viewers

It has NFL fans calling out Lakers superstar LeBron James after he told the media that Christmas is the "NBA's day."

"What was that LeBron said earlier?" a fan tweeted.

"Someone want to tell LeBron?!" another fan tweeted.

"I get Lebron James saying how the NBA and Xmas Day are connected. But these numbers are here to stay and the NFL will go back to a triple header," another fan tweeted.

This is the second year in a row that the NFL has played on Christmas Day and the results have been really strong. There's no doubt that the league will be doing this again in 2025 when the schedule comes out next year.

There's a chance that the NFL does a triple-header for Christmas in 2025 considering how great the double-header was on Wednesday.

Week 17 of the NFL season will continue on Thursday with the Chicago Bears playing the Seattle Seahawks.

Kickoff will be at 8:15 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video.
