In a revealing conversation on the GoJo and Golic podcast, NBA legend LeBron James offered insight into the secret behind his unprecedented longevity, pointing to an unexpected source: his family life.

Mike Golic, the former NFL defensive lineman turned renowned sports media personality, posed the question that many basketball analysts have been mulling over: How has LeBron James maintained his dominance at age 40?

The NBA's all-time scoring leader has amassed an unparalleled NBA resume which includes four championships across three different franchises, four MVP awards, and 20 All-Star selections. So it begs the question: playing in his 22nd season, how does he stay focused and determined?

James credited his family (starting around the five minute video timestamp) for keeping him youthful on the court:

"I just think about keeping my mind fresh... And having three kids in the house has definitely kept me younger than my age - in my sport. Having the ability to work with my son every day and then also have another son who's a junior in high school and a 10 year-old daughter, they just give me a lot of life and the joy to keep playing the game."

For perspective, the Lakers veteran is still scoring 23.7. points (21st in the league), pulling in 7.6 rebounds (31st), and passing for 8.8 assists (5th) per game. He's also averaging 50.9% shooting, far higher than any other player in his age range.

James's sustained dominance has not only broken records but also redefined what's possible in professional sports, pushing the boundaries of athletic skill well beyond traditional expectations.
