For most of the Lakers’ 2025-2026 campaign, news about LeBron James’ future has been a constant topic. At 41, he’s still playing well, and all signs point to him playing for at least another year, which would be his 24th season in the NBA.
But sadly, LBJ’s campaign this year has been marred by multiple injuries. He was a late scratch against the Knicks due to arthritis. And he missed the start of the season due to a sciatica injury. Safe to say that his injury woes have piled up. However, that hasn’t stopped fans and the media from speculating where LeBron will play next.
If you ask Bill Simmons, he truly believes LeBron James will don the Warriors uniform next season.
“I just like when it’s Luka [Doncic] and [Austin] Reaves. Remove LeBron [James] out of it, and I think that’s the foundation of a really good team. This is a really weird situation for LeBron because it’s been a weird fit for him this whole season. I don’t know where he ends up next year. But I find it hard to believe it’s going to be the Lakers,” Bill Simmons said.
“I still think it’s going to be Golden State.”

“I still think it’s going to be Golden State,” Simmons added.
It’s hard to envision LeBron playing with the Dubs. But hey, stranger things have happened before. If he’s serious about going out with a bang to end his career, the Warriors are not the team for him. Well, it will generate a ton of revenue for his team and the league, though.
People would definitely tune in to watch the trio of James, Curry, and Green.
Whenever LeBron sits out a game, the duo of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves has been dynamic on the court. Because of that, the Lakers believe that the team is better off without the services of the four-time champ.
According to a report from Tim MacMahon, “In Los Angeles right now with the Lakers, LeBron James is a guest in his own home.” That’s a very alarming report from MacMahon. LA infamously denied LBJ a contract extension in the offseason. There’s a growing number of people who expect the 23-year veteran to play for another team to end his career.
