LeBron James has received a surprise invitation to tee it up at the Genesis Invitational pro-am at Riviera Country Club next February. The unexpected offer came from PGA Tour professional Michael Kim, who extended the invite to the basketball legend on social media.

Michael Kim Sends LeBron James Invitation to Tee It Up

It all started after James congratulated Tommy Fleetwood on his first PGA Tour victory at the Tour Championship. The Los Angeles Lakers star posted a message praising Fleetwood. That caught the attention of Michael Kim, who used the moment to invite the legendary basketballer to tee it up at the Genesis Invitational.

Kim even pointed out that the Lakers will be playing at home during the week of the Genesis Invitational. That means LeBron would not face any scheduling conflicts if he decided to accept. While the NBA season is demanding, especially for a player in his 21st year, the possibility of slipping in a round of golf at Riviera makes the offer all the more realistic.

“Hey LeBron, there’s a tournament called the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club. You can play with Scottie, Fleetwood, or whoever you’d like in the Wednesday pro-am! It’s a lot of fun. It’s during a home stint and you don’t have a game that day. Feel free to come out!,” Kim posted on X.

The Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods, is one of the PGA Tour’s most prestigious events. The Wednesday pro-am is always a highlight, with celebrities, athletes, and business figures teaming up with professional golfers in a relaxed but competitive atmosphere. The idea of seeing LeBron James, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, sharing the fairways with world-class golfers like Scottie Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood immediately caught the attention of fans.

LeBron James Yet to Publicly Respond To Invite

LeBron’s interest in golf is not new. Over the years, he has been spotted taking swings on the driving range and enjoying rounds during the offseason. While his main focus has always been basketball, he has never hidden his appreciation for the game of golf. For him to appear at the Genesis Invitational, even just for the pro-am, would add a unique layer of crossover between the two sports.

The Genesis Invitational itself is steeped in tradition. Hosted at the historic Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, it attracts many of the best players in the world. With LeBron James in the field for the pro-am, the event would gain an extra dose of star power, likely drawing even more fans and media coverage. However, LeBron hasn’t publicly responded to Kim’s invitation, and fans are waiting to see whether he will take part.
