When the New York Knicks failed to reach the NBA Finals, many questioned if head coach Tom Thibodeau had done enough. He had a roster consisting of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, and others, but still could not even hold a candle to the Indiana Pacers.

Some believed KAT had not done his part in the Eastern Conference Finals. They believe his lack of effort on defense was evident, and even Thibodeau had some choice words for him in Game 4. On the other hand, some blamed Jalen Brunson for stalling the offense.

These problems are solvable, especially if the team has options to counter those problems. The likes of Stephen A. Smith believe Tom Thibodeau made numerous mistakes and his roster management woes became the butt of jokes.

All of that culminated last night when the New York Knicks front office decided to lead the 67-year-old out of their building. They had seen enough and felt like the team needed to go in a different direction. This news shocked many as few believed the long-time head coach would lose his job.

On the other hand, some had jokes in place. Miami Heat star Kevin Love , often known for posting hilarious memes on social media, released his latest one, where WWE supremo Vince McMahon is screaming ‘You’re fired’ at various people.

This meme was a troll at Tom Thibodeau, as Love’s post suggested the Knicks called him in to let him know he was being let go. Love’s former teammate and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James reacted to this meme with a series of laughing emoticons.

Knicks star Josh Hart thankful for Tom Thibodeau’s time

While the rest of the league is probably still shocked or even joking about the New York Knicks’ decision to fire Tom Thibodeau, those on the team are still trying to grasp how their season has come to an end. Josh Hart, one of the pillars of this team, wrote this message on X.

Forever Grateful. Thank You!

The forward/guard’s four simple words were an ode to his former head coach. Once seen as a great role player, Thibs, as he was known affectionately, brought the best out of the former Villanova star. He was one of the reasons Hart became a crucial part of the New York Knicks’ game plan.

Without his efforts on offense, defense, as well as rebounding, the Knicks would not be as successful as they are. Hart now has to wait and see who the next head coach is, and more importantly, how he utilizes the Maryland native in the future.

Knicks looking for a more linient head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau

Now that the elephant in the room has been addressed, the New York Knicks will be on the lookout for their next head coach. Even though they will be aggressive in the offseason, their next coach will need to be better at handling the team, as Shams Charania revealed while on the Pat McAfee Show.

A guy that might trust his bench more. A guy that might be a little bit more lenient based on his principles and what he wants to enact. Clearly, the way Tom Thibodeau coached, for better or for worse, he had a way that he was going to operate, he was not going to change.

The ESPN Insider believes the Knicks will look for a head coach who would solve the problems the team faced throughout the past couple of years. The next head coach will need to work with the front office to ensure they can fully exploit the roster’s potential.
