LeBron James was very happy with what he saw out of the referees while watching the Philadelphia 76ers- Brooklyn Nets game on Thursday night.
Nets and Sixers stars Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid traded plenty of talk during the game, but the officials didn’t stop the game or call the players for technical fouls. Instead, the officials were aware that the two players have an on-court rivalry, and they didn’t interrupt the situation.

James tweeted how nice it was to see that.
I love that the refs let KD and JE talk that talk to each other and didn’t TECH them up! That’s DOPE!! Understanding the assignment

“I love that the refs let KD and JE talk that talk to each other and didn’t TECH them up! That’s DOPE!! Understanding the assignment,” James wrote.
It’s pretty clear that James would like to see officials make that a regular thing. His last sentence is very interesting too. He said “understanding the assignment,” as if the referees were instructed to let the guys play.
Maybe James thinks referees are also told to “understand the assignment” when he is playing and let him get away with a lot of stuff.
The Nets-Sixers game turned into enough of a blowout where the referees weren’t a deciding factor. But James appreciated that the officials were hands-off early on.
