LeBron James Names the Biggest Risk He’s Taken with Savannah James

LeBron James is a four-time NBA champion, four-time MVP and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer entering the 2025–26 season, his record 23rd in the league. He averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds over 70 games last season, was selected to his 21st All-Star Game and remains positioned to chase additional career milestones as the Los Angeles Lakers tip off the new season.

On the debut episode of season six of the "Everybody’s Crazy" podcast, LeBron James sat alongside hosts Savannah James (his wife) and April McDaniel and offered a rare, pragmatic take on risk — both personal and financial.

While Savannah reminded listeners that the single riskiest thing she has done was become a mother at 18, James framed himself as a measured risk-taker in business — "five out of 10" — explaining that coming from Akron and being "the first generational money maker" in his family keeps him cautious.

However, on the personal end, James sided with his wife, Savannah.

"As far as relationship, I think, yeah, having a baby at a young age and us moving in together. Like I said, my wife comes from a two-parent household and siblings in the house. I don't come from that. It was like my mom, my uncles and then just friends and girls and guys just coming in and out. That's what I grew up on," James said. "So me settling down ... that [expletive] was different bro, that was risky for me."

McDaniel then asks James, "You were how old?" James says, "19 ... Like 53 years ago," before the whole group — Kai Cenat, Fanum and Travis Bennett (Taco) included — exploded in laughter.

James rose to national prominence at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, earning nationwide media attention as a future NBA star and entering the league straight from high school as the first overall pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003.

James and Savannah have been together since high school in Akron, married in 2013 and are parents to three children: Bronny (LeBron Jr.), Bryce and Zhuri.

Bronny, the couple's oldest child, whom they reference as their biggest risk, alongside moving in together, was a second-round draft pick in 2024 and in October 2024, he and James became the first father-and-son duo to play together in an NBA game.
