Victor Wembanyama, the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, recently captured the basketball world's attention after participating in a pair of exhibition games against the NBA G League Ignite in Las Vegas.
The 19-year-old is already dominating at the pro level, playing in France's highest tier for Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92.
With all the buzz surrounding Wembanyama this week, reporters asked Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James to share his thoughts on the league's next big thing.
"Everybody's been a unicorn over the last few years, but he's more like an alien," James said about the 7-foot-4 phenom when speaking with reporters.
James continued his praise of Wembanyama, saying he's "for sure a generational talent."
On Thursday, Wembanyama responded to LeBron's comments like a seasoned veteran.
"It's an honor to see such great people talk about me like that but it doesn't change anything," Wembanyama said, via Jonathan Givony of ESPN. "That's cool, but I need to focus. I didn't do anything yet. I haven't been drafted. I need to stay focused to reach my goals."
