LeBron James continues to defy expectations deep into his career, producing another huge performance despite increased pressure on his role.
Against the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers were without Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic due to injury, placing a heavier creative and scoring burden on the veteran star.
James responded well on Sunday despite the 134-128 loss. His effort was overshadowed by Cooper Flagg’s 46-point display that ultimately secured the win. However, its place in the history books is guaranteed.
James, now 41, became the oldest player in NBA history to record a game with at least 30 points and 15 assists, according to Real App.
He posted 30 points and 15 assists against Dallas, rewriting a record he had already set earlier in his career.
His previous mark came in November 2019, when he was 34 years old and delivered 39 points and 16 assists, also against the Mavericks.
The seven-year gap between those performances highlights his sustained elite level.
And James’ ability to control the game as both a scorer and playmaker remains central to the Lakers, especially when injuries force him into an even more prominent role.
