Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has had a difficult start to his 23rd NBA season. The four-time champion missed the first 14 games of the season while dealing with sciatica, as the Lakers raced off to a 10-4 record without him. In the seven games he has played, he is averaging 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.6 assists.

In Sunday night's 112-108 win against the Philadelphia Sixers, the final game of a three-game road trip, James scored a season-high 29 points. The four-time NBA MVP scored 10 straight points for the Lakers as they pulled away in the fourth quarter.

"I've had so many of those moments that it never gets old," James said after the game. "And that's the one thing you won't be able to get back when you're done playing is that arena ... the excitement or the boos and the cheers or whatever the case may be."

While he cherished the moment on the court in Philadelphia, James' personal post on social media after the game signaled a different attitude from the NBA's all-time leading scorer. James' message on his Instagram story late Sunday night was directed to his wife, Savannah James.

“I miss my BFF!!!” James typed in white text over a black screen, tagging his wife's account.

The message to his wife of 12 years could have been sent privately, but instead, James shared his feelings with his 158 million followers.

After games on the east coast against the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia, James was eager to return to Los Angeles, where he and Savannah live with their 11-year-old daughter, Zhuri James.

Their middle son, Bryce James, is a college freshman on the Arizona Wildcats men's basketball team. Their oldest son, Lakers guard Bronny James, recently moved out of the house as well.

James' personal update reflected the 40-year-old's priorities in his 23rd NBA season. Making memories on the court is still important, but being able to share them with his loved ones means just as much.

"I know I don't want to be alone, that's for damn sure," James said in October of the value he places on his marriage. "If I got to fight, crawl, scratch, bite, whatever to keep mine, I got to keep it. I've got to do what I've got to do."

The Lakers' next game is back at home against the San Antonio Spurs in the quarterfinal of the NBA Cup on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET.
