The Los Angeles Lakers, including LeBron James, were all smiles after punching their ticket for the next round of the NBA playoffs with their series-clinching win over the Houston Rockets

After the Game 6 victory, the Lakers star gave a shoutout to RJ Barrett following his dramatic game-winner for the Toronto Raptors against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“Thank you, Toronto. Thank you, RJ Barrett. I appreciate it,” James said with a smile. “Haven’t seen a shot in Toronto like that since Kawhi Leonard. There’s something about those rims.”

Barrett’s three-pointer, which bounced high off the rim before dropping, sealed a 112-110 overtime win in Game 6 and forced a deciding Game 7. The sequence immediately drew comparisons to Leonard’s iconic 2019 buzzer-beater in the same arena, which James was quick to point out.

However, the timing only added to the implications for Los Angeles. By extending the Eastern Conference series, Barrett’s shot ensured the Lakers would gain two additional days of rest before facing the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round.

And as obvious as it is, they will make sure to utilize the extra recovery window, particularly for a 41-year-old in his 23rd season. James finished Game 6 with 28 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, leading a controlled 98-78 win to close out Houston.

JJ Redick Makes Bold Endorsement For LeBron James

Realization kept hitting the Lakers once they closed out their first-round series. Apart from LeBron James himself, JJ Redick didn’t hesitate to make a bold comment about his team’s biggest superstar.

“To me, he’s had the greatest career of any NBA player,” Redick said of James. “He’s one of, if not the greatest of all time… For him to answer the bell again, it’s baffling in some ways.”

The praise came as James walked into the locker room to chants of “GOAT” from teammates, a reflection of his continued impact in Year 23. At 41, he delivered another complete performance, finishing Game 6 with 28 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds while controlling the pace against a younger, more athletic opponent.

With Luka Doncic sidelined and Austin Reaves still regaining rhythm, the burden fell squarely on James. His leadership and production carried the Lakers through a series that demanded consistency and control.
