The Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday officially unveiled the team’s new City Edition uniforms, which pay tribute to late local icon Prince. The purple-on-purple uniforms were met with great fanfare by the NBA community, and among those expressing admiration for the Prince-themed unis was none other than LeBron James.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar took to Twitter late Thursday night to express a desire for procuring a T-Wolves City Edition jersey of his own, specifically one that bears the name and number of Derrick Rose.

Rose of course put up a performance for the ages earlier this week, scoring a career-high 50 points in Wednesday’s win over the Utah Jazz. James was among the countless NBA stars to give Rose — a former rival-turned teammate, albeit briefly — a shoutout, proclaiming that the onetime MVP is “still a superhero” as well as paying tribute to Rose’s electrifying performance in an Instagram post.
James’ interest in the Prince-themed jersey actually is twofold, as The King also counts himself as a huge fan of The Purple One, even dressing up as the late musician on Halloween a few years back and publicly mourning Prince’s passing on April 21, 2016.
