LeBron on Lakers’ Christmas Day game: Only thing I care about is daughter opening her gifts
Alonzo Adams-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James is the face of the NBA, still, at the age of 38. So his thoughts on the Lakers-Celtics game on Christmas Day count for a lot.

Well, guess what?  He doesn’t care about that game. At least, not nearly as much as Christmas morning before the game.

James said as much himself.

“I can give a damn about Monday. The only thing I care about Monday is my daughter waking up and opening her gifts,” he told reporters.

It’s not surprising that James’ daughter, Zhuri, and the rest of his family are a much bigger priority than a random regular-season game that just happens to fall on a holiday — or any game, for that matter. Every player in the NBA feels the same way and should feel the same way.

It was just refreshing to hear James come out and say it.

The Lakers snapped a four-game skid with a road win against the Thunder on Saturday, a game in which James scored 40 points. He turns 39 in a week.
