Lindy Waters III Signs Two-Year Contract with OKC Thunder

The former Oklahoma State Cowboy averaged 16.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 11 games for the Oklahoma City Blue this season. In his G League appearances, Waters shot 49.3% from the field and 39.3% from 3-point range.

A second-year veteran, the Norman North product has already played in 25 NBA games this season, averaging 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in just over 11 minutes per outing. With the Thunder, Waters is shooting 39.6% from the field and 36.9% from beyond the arc. 

The former Enid Outlaw played 25 games for OKC as a rookie on a two-way deal in 2021-22, averaging eight points, almost three rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes per game. Waters' best showing came against the Atlanta Hawks during his rookie season, when the 6-foot-6 wing battled against his high school teammate, Trae Young. 

Waters tallied a career-high 25 points, knocking down seven triples in addition to four rebounds, one assist and one steal. In the 2022-23 season, the Norman native's best performance came against the Kings just 12 hours before he was signed, when Waters finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one assist. 

Listed at 6-foot-6 215 pounds, the former two-way guard adds another perimeter shooting threat to the Thunder's roster. With his departure from the Blue, however, Oklahoma City's G League affiliate will need to find another player to fill the team's second two-way spot.
