Lonzo Ball is loving his time playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, as he is one of the most important guards on the roster. While he is happy with his time playing for the Cavaliers, he does leave an opening to play for the Los Angeles Lakers again in the future.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the biggest favorites in the Eastern Conference during the 2025-26 season. One of the biggest reasons is their depth in the guard position, as they have Lonzo Ball as one of their options.
Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell are an excellent backcourt duo, but they are much better when they have legitimate backups behind them. Ball has been in and out of lineups due to injuries over the years, but he has matched expectations for the Cavaliers so far.
Ball is happy where he is now, as this is a fresh opportunity after an injury-riddled stint with the Chicago Bulls. Now, he is with the Cavaliers, playing a big role for a team that could potentially reach the NBA Finals in June 2026. Despite this, Ball still has roots in Los Angeles, a city that he does not mind returning to.
Now that Ball is playing for the Cavaliers, it’s a new journey for him. It has been rough over the past few years for the 6’6″ guard because he was sidelined for two seasons with his lower-body injuries.
He returned to full health in the 2024-25 season, but it took him a while to get back to full speed. Now that he is with the Cavaliers, he is in the right position to not only contribute but also not to overexert himself as a starter.
Ball can be one of the most impactful players on the Cavaliers’ roster. Most people will say that the core four of Garland, Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen are the key players. However, they should never count out names like Ball and Max Strus as potential contributors to this their quest to reach the NBA Finals and win.
“I feel good. Of course, last night was our first game, and we couldn’t get the job done. But, moving around, I felt pretty good. I feel a lot better than last year, and I think that’s pretty normal with big injuries. You take a year to get really used to how you want to move around,” Ball said about the 2025-26 season on Stephen A. Smith’s show.
“I’m confident, man. Of course, it’s gonna be a long season. I’m expecting to come out at the end… It’s a good fit, I thought they needed a player like myself.”
“They wanted me, so I’ll always go to where I’m wanted. Not to say that Chicago didn’t, but I felt like it was a good opportunity. I say this, I wouldn’t mind going back to LA. Not that I miss it, I’m where I’m supposed to be at.”
Throughout the 2025 summer, people have hyped up the Cavaliers to be ready for the tough test of contending. It will be a challenge for the team because they were dominant in the East last season. Now that they have a target on their back as favorites alongside the New York Knicks, the Cavaliers will want to maintain their consistency and remain healthy.
Ball will not be the star player they rely on every night, but he will do his best to contribute. Defense and playmaking are his biggest traits, so he will be a big part of that part of the game.

With Kenny Atkinson leading the team, he is loving what he sees from the 6’6″ guard. Ball will keep working his way to be one of the key players behind Garland and Mitchell in the backcourt. In fact, they could even play together because of Ball’s upside as a bigger guard who can defend multiple positions.
While some part of him would love to go back to Los Angeles, Ball’s heart is in Cleveland, and he is focused on how to help his team win a championship.
