The Cleveland Cavaliers traded forward Issac Okoro on June 28 to the Chicago Bulls in return for guard Lonzo Ball.

Ball played in 35 games last season after missing the 2022 and 2023 seasons because of a left knee injury. He averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

During a recent interview, the veteran guard told the Associated Press that he is looking forward to playing alongside All-Stars Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell in Cleveland.

“I think it’s a great situation for my play style,” Ball said. “[Donovan Mitchell] is one of the best players in the league. And they have two mobile bigs, can set pick-and-rolls and get to the rim like that. And then do some switching on defense. I think we can do many different things on both sides of the ball, and having the option to do those things is great.”

Ball is known as a proficient playmaker and defender who aims to help create open shots for his teammates. The Cavaliers' duo of All-Stars Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen could further develop this because of their length and use of the pick-and-roll offense.

Following his move to Cleveland, the former Bulls guard gave a shout-out to Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders. “Cleveland, shoutout to Shedeur,” Ball said during a recent appearance on Kai Cenat’s livestream alongside his younger brother and artist LiAngelo Ball.

The shoutout comes as Sanders quickly became one of the Brown’s more notable players after being drafted in the fifth round of April's NFL draft with the 144th pick. Throughout offseason workouts, Sanders impressed some of the Browns' coaching staff with his athleticism and arm strength.

He is also considered a candidate to become the starting quarterback if he can overtake veteran quarterback Joe Flacco in the ongoing quarterback battle. Meanwhile, Ball could be joining the Cavaliers starting rotation when the season starts in the fall.
