Los Angeles Clippers forward Nicolas Batum said the 2025-26 season could be his last year of his professional basketball career.
“There’s a very, very good chance that the next season will be my last,” Batum said in an interview with BeinSports via Eurohoops.
The 36-year-old swingman is entering the final year of his two-year, $9.6 million contract. After earning roughly $4.7 million this season, Batum will likely exercise his $4.9 million player option in 2025-26.
Batum made 78 regular season appearances in 2024-25, averaging 4.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on 43.7 percent shooting from the field in 17.5 minutes per contest.
Nicolas Batum is not the only Los Angeles Clippers player to monitor this summer since Norman Powell is eligible to sign a new extension. Powell is fresh from a breakout year in 2024-25, averaging 21.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 steals on 48/42/80 shooting splits across 60 regular season starts.
The 31-year-old forward is entering the final year of his five-year, $90 million contract signed while still a member of the Portland Trail Blazers in 2021.
According to Mark Deeks of HoopsHype, Powell could command a three-year, $92 million contract extension from Los Angeles.
