Los Angeles Lakers: Bronny James Breaks Silence on Wanting to Play With Dad LeBron James
James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has always been vocal about wanting to play with his son, Bronny James, in the NBA. So much so, that the Lakers are reportedly seriously gauging the possibility of scooping up the 19-year-old in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft in order to fulfill LeBron’s dream.

As it turns out, however, this is not necessarily what Bronny actually wants.

Los Angeles Lakers News: Bronny James Drops Truth Bomb on His NBA Dream

Bronny has kept mum about the prospect of playing with his future Hall of Famer dad. Well, that was the case until Tuesday when the former USC stud broke his silence about this whole issue.

According to Lakers reporter Dan Woike of the LA Times, Bronny himself stated that his dream to make it in the NBA supersedes whatever desire he may have to suit up alongside his father:

The bit about Bronny making his own name in the NBA is going to be a gargantuan task for this young man, to say the least. The fact that his father is one of the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball is going to make it extremely difficult for Bronny to get out of the LeBron James shadow.

Bronny also said that at the moment, he is solely focused on doing whatever he can to fulfill his own dream of playing in the NBA:

“When I get there, I don’t think it would be just like me and my dad,” Bronny said. I would be happy about getting to the league instead of me thinking about playing with my dad. That’s not my mindset right now at all. I’m just trying to put in the work and see where it takes me from there.”

While this might be tough to hear for LeBron, I’m pretty certain that the Lakers talisman will still keep his son’s best interest as the top priority. If this means that he won’t be able to team up with Bronny before he calls it a career, then so be it.
