Los Angeles Lakers: D’Angelo Russell Reveals True Feelings on Timberwolves-Mavericks WCF Series
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

There’s a running joke about Los Angeles Lakers fans supporting the Minnesota Timberwolves in the recently-concluded West Semis. Some folks have even gone as far as labeling Minnesota the Los Angeles Timberwolves as the LA faithful laid their hopes on Anthony Edwards and Co. to take down the same team that eliminated the Lakers in the first round, the Denver Nuggets.

Well, these supporters got their wish as the Wolves ended Denver’s title defense after an epic seven-game war. It’s the Dallas Mavericks that’s now up next for Minnesota, and apparently, Lakers star D’Angelo Russell is jumping on the bandwagon.

Los Angeles Lakers News: D’Angelo Russell Taking Timberwolves Over Mavericks

Russell took to Instagram on Tuesday to share his thoughts on the upcoming Western Conference Finals series between the Wolves and the Mavs. The Lakers guard hinted at his affinity toward his former team, Minnesota, while also revealing his bold prediction for the series:

For those that require context, Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Taurean Prince all suited up for the Timberwolves before heading to Hollywood, thus the Minnesota Lakers bit.

Russell, however, appears to be extremely confident in the Wolves’ ability to manhandle Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the rest of the Mavericks. In his mind, this series isn’t going to last very long with Minnesota pulling off a clean sweep.

You can be sure, however, that Doncic and Co. will have a thing or two to say about that.
