Los Angeles Lakers news: The latest update on Bronny James‘ future in the league is that the 19-year-old’s draft stock has dropped significantly. At this point, the son of the great LeBron James is projected to be the No. 55 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.
Incidentally, the Lakers are in possession of the No. 56 pick, which has prompted an unfiltered tirade from ESPN broadcaster Stephen A. Smith.
Speaking on a recent episode of First Take, Stephen A. tabled a sensational conspiracy theory about LeBron supposedly playing a role in how the Lakers are all of a sudden just one spot away from Bronny’s projected draft position.
According to Smith, there’s very little doubt in his mind that this is no coincidence:
“What I would implore LeBron James to be careful about is that so much of what’s transpiring seems so transparent, it’s insulting,” Stephen A. Said. “… At some point in time, it’s like too much looks too damn obvious.”
Stephen A. Smith finds it awfully convenient Bronny James is now ESPN's No. 54 prospect when the Lakers have the No. 55 pick.

Smith also had to bring up the fact that LeBron recently launched a podcast with JJ Redick, who suddenly emerged as the frontrunner for the Lakers’ coaching job after Darvin Ham got fired. According to Stephen A., this just serves as further proof of how much power and influence LeBron has not only on his team but on the league as well.
He is The King after all, right?
