Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James may not retire from the NBA after this season, according to Vincent Goodwill of ESPN.
James, 41, becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason for the first time since 2018.
"If he were retiring the league would know it because the league would want to celebrate him on the way out…the feeling is around the league that Lebron will play at least one more season. There will be tremendous interest around the league this summer should Lebron decide to… pic.twitter.com/qtNEDLvSS5

Most people around the NBA believe that if James doesn’t retire this offseason, he will either re-sign with the Lakers or return to his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The future Hall of Famer has played for the Cavaliers twice. He’s the best player in franchise history.
James was the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He has played for the Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Lakers. The Akron native is a four-time MVP, four-time champion, four-time Finals MVP, one-time assists champion and one-time scoring champion with career averages of 26.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game.
Arguably the greatest player in NBA history, James is the only player to rank top five all-time in points and assists, the only player to win Finals MVP with three teams, the only player with 40,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 career assists and the only player to score 50,000 points combining the regular season and playoffs.
James became the leading scorer in NBA history during the 2022-23 season. The forward won his championships in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2020.
For the time in his career, James is not the most important player on his team, as Los Angeles acquired Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks last season. Dončić, 26, and James have a close relationship, so there is no beef between the two superstars.
It will be fascinating to see what James decides to do this offseason. LBJ’s son, Bronny James, is on the Lakers. Would LeBron really leave his son to return to the Cavaliers? Only time will tell.
For the Lakers this season, LeBron is averaging 22.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.
