Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James to Work With ‘MVP’ in Incredibly Shocking Free Agency Landing Spot
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Even though he’s nearing 40 years old, Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James is still one of the best in the business. That is why his future in the NBA amid his looming decision on his player option for the 2024-25 NBA season has people’s attention. He could decide to leave the Lakers and move on to another team with a new contract.

Will the Oklahoma City Thunder Make an NBA Draft Move to Increase Chances of Luring Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James?

Perhaps his decision will ultimately hinge on which team his oldest son, Bronny James, lands via the 2024 NBA Draft, which will be held in late June.

Enter the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder are unlikely to use the 12th overall pick they have in the first round (via the Houston Rockets) but they have a creative general manager in Sam Presti, who could find a way to get Bronny if the Thunder want to lure the four-time league Most Valuable Player to come and play in Oklahoma City.

Although the Thunder do not have a second-round pick, they do have several future picks and plenty of assets. General manager Sam Presti is always thinking ahead and has built something incredible in Oklahoma City in a very short time. LeBron has said in the past how much he respects Presti and how he runs the organization.

“The MVP over there is Sam Presti,” LeBron said in 2022. “This guy’s eye for talent … he drafted KD [Durant], Russ [Westbrook], Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka, Reggie Jackson, Josh Giddey, and the list goes on and on and on. This guy is pretty damn good.”

James is coming off a sensational 2023-24 NBA season considering his age. He averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game for the Lakers, who exited the 2024 NBA Playoffs after getting gentleman-swept in the first round by the Denver Nuggets.
