Los Angeles Lakers: Read Vanessa Bryant’s Painful Message for Daughter Gigi on Her 18th Birthday
Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports

Kobe Bryant is still making his impact felt on the basketball world despite leaving us in 2020. Four years on, former players and fans continue to bring up the Los Angeles Lakers legend’s name when it comes to basketball excellence.

However, he isn’t the only one who left their mark on the game of basketball. Gigi Bryant was supposed to take over his father’s mantle as a player, as she’s the one among Kobe’s daughters who showed passion and talent for basketball the same way he did.

No one felt their loss more than Vanessa. While she’s continuously carrying on their legacies, it’s still evident that she’s still missing her husband and daughter. She even took the time to celebrate what would have been Gigi’s 18th birthday.

Vanessa Bryant posts a touching message on Gigi Bryant’s 18th birthday

Bryant posted on Instagram to celebrate her daughter’s birthday, saying that she loves her and misses her dearly. She also said that Gigi’s life inspires her and many young women to pursue their dreams.

Per The Spun’s Kameron Duncan:

“You continue to motivate me and inspire young women and girls daily,” Vanessa Bryant said.

“2024 was your year. You would’ve been graduating high school and choosing which college to go to,” she added, noting that she would have tried to get her daughter to stay close to home.

If Gigi were still alive today, she would have already been committed to the UConn Huskies and played with Paige Bueckers in her final year of college ball. While that will never be a reality, the team made a touching gesture by making her a Husky for life.

Revisiting Kobe Bryant’s impact to the Los Angeles Lakers

It’s hard to find something new about Kobe Bryant’s impact to the Purple and Gold, but one thing is clear about his 20-year career in Los Angeles: cut him open and he’ll bleed Lakers.

He became one of the franchise’s faces from the moment he stepped foot into the NBA as an 18-year-old phenom straight out of high school. He won five years with the team, provided countless clutch moments, and showcased what Mamba Mentality is really like.

Many still miss Kobe and Gigi Bryant, and we can only dream about what they’re doing right now if it wasn’t for the fated helicopter crash.
