Los Angeles Lakers to Send LeBron James to 1 Surprising Team in Wild Trade Rumor
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

It was clear to everyone that LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers was in doubt after they lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. King James still wants to win another ring, and he’s shown that he’s still more than capable of doing so.

The fact that the 39-year-old is getting linked to the Golden State Warriors as a possible trade destination is a wild testament to his staying power as an NBA player, but the Bay Area isn’t the only market James could possibly end up on.

One famous sports personality suggested that if he wanted, LeBron could brute-force his way into joining another big-market team in the East that could use a man of his talents.

Stephen A. Smith suggests LeBron James should ask the Los Angeles Lakers for a trade to the New York Knicks

Stephen A. Smith is a rabid New York Knicks fan who loves what his team is doing in the playoffs. He went absolutely ballistic after the Knicks won Game 4 against the Philadelphia 76ers, but he’s not above getting more stars to join his team.

He threw the wild pitch to LeBron during the latest episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, per FirstSportz’s Nikhil Sonmali:

You don’t trade LeBron James if he doesn’t want to go, you don’t move beyond LeBron James if he wants to stay… But is it possible and is it plausible when you got a team like the New York Knicks with 11 picks over the next seven years that you go to them and you say, ‘You know what we don’t mind, you want LeBron at the Garden? Give us a couple of first-round picks and a player.’. If you’re the Los Angeles Lakers, you might wanna consider it.

It’s understandable why Smith wants LeBron to go to the Big Apple. He played a key role in the Lakers’ inevitably doomed playoff campaign, averaging 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks a game. These are numbers you don’t expect a grizzled veteran to produce in his 21st NBA season, but he somehow manages to keep on doing it.

If LeBron James does decide to end his time with the Purple and Gold, New York is more than happy to take him in and help him win another ring.
