Former first-overall pick Deandre Ayton has been traded to the Wizards shortly after the Lakers add Walker Kessler. The Lakers will receive guard Jaden Hardy and two second-round picks in 2031 and 2032 respectively.
The revolving door that is the Lakers center position continues, but the upside to Kessler feels promising. While his 2025 campaign was cut short due to injury, he showed enough flashes of interior dominance, as his rebounding and shot-blocking can be stellar. Therefore, the Lakers are content with moving on from Ayton.
With Ayton joining the Wizards, more speculation builds around Anthony Davis. The Warriors are looking to add Davis in order to entice LeBron James, but the Wizards GM has not shown interest in moving AD. Currently, Davis is listed as the starting center, but he does prefer to play the power forward position. Maybe the AD and Ayton combo could work, but future moves will shed more light on the situation.
