Lu Dort agrees to five-year, $87.5M deal to stay with Thunder

A day after the Oklahoma City Thunder declined a $1.93M team option on guard Lu Dort for 2023, the two sides agreed to a long and lucrative contract on the first day of free agency.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Dort will stay in Oklahoma City, signing a five-year, $87.5M contract.

Dort, 23, averaged 17.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 51 games last season for the Thunder.

After going undrafted out of Arizona State, Dort signed a two-way contract as a free agent with the Thunder in 2019. He played sparingly as a rookie but broke out in 2020-21, averaging 14.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, starting 52 games,

Oklahoma City locks up Dort, hoping he's a cornerstone of their rebuild.

The Thunder finished last in the Northwest Division, posting a 24-58 record. They are 46-108 over the last two seasons and haven't reached the postseason since the 2019-20 season.
