The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the postseason on Wednesday, ending what many believed could have been a special season. Los Angeles fell in five games to the Minnesota Timberwolves, failing to execute down the stretch of pretty much every game in the series.

It was a disappointing ending for the Lakers, and the team is now entering a crucial offseason. One of the biggest questions from this summer comes from star guard Luka Doncic, who is eligible to sign a maximum extension with the Lakers.
After the Game 5 loss to the Timberwolves, Doncic was asked about whether he has thought about signing the extension this offseason. The star point guard gave a natural response following an emotional playoff loss.
"I didn't think it yet. It's been great, honestly. The way the fans accepted me, it's been amazing. I'm really glad that I'm here"

While Doncic didn't give a yes or no answer, he has remained very steady with how he has spoken about the city of Los Angeles. Since his arrival, the fans have welcomed him with open arms, and Doncic has gotten to feel what it means to be a member of the Lakers.

Doncic has fit in fairly well with the Lakers, establishing a nice connection with the city. On court, he and star LeBron James have learned to play together nicely, but there have been some growing pains.
Assuming that James doesn't retire this offseason, the two will have an entire offseason and training camp together. This could help them maximize the chemistry on the floor, giving the Lakers more ammo heading into next season.
It does seem like Doncic will sign the extension to remain in Los Angeles, but until there is pen to paper, the Lakers will worry. The team will likely approach the star guard later in the offseason, and if they can agree on a number, Doncic is expected to be a Laker for a long time.
