A resurfaced video of a 14-year-old Luka Doncic undergoing grueling physical training has gone viral across social media platforms, reigniting appreciation for the immense work ethic and early dedication that helped mold him into the NBA superstar he is today.

In the clip, the young Slovenian prodigy can be seen attacking the rim while getting struck by thick foam pads, simulating physical contact from defenders. Despite the hits, Luka powers through every repetition, showcasing his early balance, toughness, and body control—traits that have now become the hallmarks of his game.

The video quickly drew reactions from fans and former players alike, with many referencing the late Kobe Bryant as someone who would have respected Luka’s mentality and grind.

What makes this video all the more fascinating is how much of Luka’s current game still mirrors what he practiced at 14. The footwork, the poise through contact, and the ability to maintain body control against physical defenders—these aren't traits he learned late.

They’ve been embedded in his game since his early teens, thanks to Real Madrid’s elite training structure and Luka’s commitment to getting better. By age 16, Doncic was already playing in the EuroLeague, the second-best league in the world, and by 19, he was named EuroLeague MVP and champion.

It’s rare, even unheard of, for a teenager to dominate grown men in Europe’s top-tier leagues. But Luka wasn’t your average teenager.

Now in the NBA, Doncic continues to showcase that early-developed skill set. For the Lakers, he’s averaging 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 7.9 assists while shooting 41.6% from the field and 36.8% from three.

His shooting numbers dipped early in the season due to a calf injury that sidelined him for nearly two months, but he’s been surging in recent weeks, regaining rhythm and confidence in his legs. His timing, playmaking, and shot-creation remain elite.

Despite the early season setback, Luka has been instrumental in helping the Los Angeles Lakers to a 45-29 record, good for fourth in the Western Conference. His presence has alleviated pressure from LeBron James and opened up the floor for others.

Luka Doncic’s journey from a relentless 14-year-old in Slovenia taking hits in the paint to a five-time All-NBA First Team member is a masterclass in preparation meeting opportunity. The resurfaced video is more than a viral moment—it’s a reminder that greatness doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built, one hit at a time.
