At this point in time, Luka Doncic is playing like the best player in the league in the Dallas Mavericks’ series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Due to his insane talent on the court, the Slovenian All-Star has become eligible to sign the biggest contract in NBA history.
Ever since he arrived on the scene as the Mavericks’ top rookie in 2018, Doncic has been on a tear by putting up insane numbers on a nightly basis. By his first year in the NBA, he was already putting up 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. This resulted in a Rookie of the Year award for him back in 2019.
Since then, Doncic has led Dallas to multiple playoff appearances by putting up great games along the way. In this year’s postseason, the All-Star point guard is notching 27.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 9.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in 13 games. He’s also shooting 42 percent from the field, 30 percent from downtown, and 80 percent from the free throw line.
With shooting guard Kyrie Irving by his side, the Mavericks are now up one game to nothing against Anthony Edwards’ Timberwolves. It’s safe to say that if he gets past them, the hype surrounding Doncic is going to blast through the roof.
Just recently, Doncic was named to this season’s All-NBA First Team. As a result, the Mavs’ All-Star is now eligible to sign a supermax contract extension in 2025, as seen in a post shared by Bobby Marks on X:

The potential five-year contract will be the biggest in NBA history as it will give Doncic $59 million in the first year and $78 million when the deal is done in 2031. And with the way he’s playing right now, this big bag of money is a done deal for both Doncic and the Mavericks.
Next year is going to be a big one for the Slovenian guard as his contract will surely shake things up. In any case, Doncic’s future in the NBA will be a lot more secure than what it is right now.
