Off-court headlines are starting to follow Luka Doncic again, and this one’s layered. What initially began as a private split has now moved into a legal fight stretching across continents. Timing isn’t ideal either, with the NBA grind in full swing and attention locked on every move.

At the center is a jurisdiction battle with ex-fiancée Anamaria Goltes. Also, it’s not just about support, but where the case should even be heard. California vs Slovenia. Two systems, two very different outcomes potentially in play, and that’s where stuff gets sharp.

As reported on March 24, 2026, by People Magazine, Doncic’s spokesperson addressed the ongoing dispute, confirming the Los Angeles Lakers star is pushing to dismiss a California child support filing on jurisdiction grounds, insisting Slovenia is the proper forum.

“Luka has always provided for anything his daughters could need or want and will continue to do so. He will always fight to be with his daughters and give them the best life possible. Luka is seeking dismissal of this case simply because Slovenia, not California, is the appropriate forum for adjudication of this dispute.”

The 27-year-old has also alleged “forum shopping,” claiming the filing was strategically made in California despite residency ties to Slovenia.

Luka Doncic’s Custody Battle Centers on Slovenia as Legal Fight Intensifies

The legal battle involving Doncic is now centered in Slovenia, where the core custody fight is unfolding. While headlines focus on California, the real movement is happening back home, where both children currently live.

Doncic filed an interim injunction on February 26, 2026, seeking immediate contact with his daughters Gabriela and Olivia. The case reportedly also covers joint custody and support, with Slovenian law leaning toward shared parenting if it benefits the children.

His legal team argues Slovenia is the rightful jurisdiction, citing residency rules and limited U.S. ties. They’ve also pushed back on claims tied to California filings, framing it as a strategic move. Meanwhile, Luka Doncic’s limited access (reportedly just two days since training camp) adds urgency to the case.
