While it’s tough to top the trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night that included Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis, the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and San Antonio Spurs made a notable move of their own on Sunday.
The Kings traded star point guard De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs in exchange for Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first-round picks, and three second-round picks.
Meanwhile, the Bulls received Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, and their own 2025 pick back from the Spurs. San Antonio also acquired Jordan McLaughlin in the deal.
Yet, the main storyline here revolves around the new duo of Fox and first-time All-Star Victor Wembanyama, a pairing that the Spurs are hoping will form the foundation of their championship-contending future.
Following the trade, NBA legend and Hall of Famer Magic Johnson shared his thoughts, and he had high praise for the Spurs' big move, that he believes can set them up right away for a potential postseason berth.
"De’Aaron Fox heading to San Antonio to team up with Victor Wembanyama gives the Spurs a legitimate shot at the Playoffs this season!" Johnson posted.

The Spurs are currently in the mix of the Western Conference standings, but they have work to do. At 21-25, they sit as the No. 12 seed in the West, trailing the Kings by two games for the No. 10 seed and the final play-in spot.
Fox is averaging 25.0 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.0 rebounds this season. At just 27 years old, he made it clear days ago, when the Kings revealed they were shopping him, that the Spurs were his preferred destination. Fox is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026 and the growing assumption is that he will sign a long-term deal with San Antonio.
