Magic waive Jeff Teague after trade with Celtics

The Orlando Magic acquired Jeff Teague from the Boston Celtics in the Evan Fournier trade. However, the veteran guard won't play a single game for the franchise.

According to Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports, the Magic have waived Teague. Orlando previously announced he would not report to the team.

The Celtics signed Teague to a one-year deal worth more than $2.5 million prior to the 2020-21 campaign. In 34 games with the franchise, he averaged 6.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 41.5% from the field and 46.4% from deep.

The 32-year-old has been in the NBA since 2009 and has also played for the Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers.

It's unclear if another team will pick up Teague off waivers.
