Magic's Mo Bamba to miss playoffs, undergo post-coronavirus evaluation

Orlando Magic center Mo Bamba will miss the entire NBA playoffs held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex bubble site.

Per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), the Magic explained Bamba's absence via an official team statement:

"On the advice of the Magic's human performance staff and team physicians, Orlando Magic center Mo Bamba has left the NBA campus for a comprehensive post-coronavirus evaluation."

For a piece published on Aug. 6, the 22-year-old seven-footer told The Athletic's Josh Robbins that he battled the coronavirus in June.

“I think the lesson is to take it seriously, to take it as seriously as possible," Bamba said.

He added: “I want people to know that I’m still working as hard as ever, if not even harder, and I’ll get through this.”

Bamba averaged 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 62 games this season. He appeared in only two games while in the bubble, however, and logged fewer than 11 total minutes of on-the-court action.

Dallas faces the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in the opening round of the postseason.
