Matisse Thybulle Has Unique Goodbye to Sixers Fans
USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in his professional career, Matisse Thybulle is on the move. After spending four seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, Thybulle has been traded to the Portland Trail Blazers ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

Thybulle was one of the focal points of a four-team deal between the Sixers, Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks, and the Blazers. The Sixers ended up dishing out Thybulle and a second-round pick. In return, they acquired the veteran Jalen McDaniels and two second-round picks.

With Thybulle leaving town, the veteran wing sent a message to Sixers fans in Philadelphia late on Thursday night. He posted a video to his Instagram account to get the message out there.

A couple of years ago, Thybulle was honored with a painted mural on the side of a bar in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. As Thybulle quickly established himself as a fan-favorite in Philadelphia with his defensive stardom, “Garage,” in partnership with Red Bull, wanted to honor the former first-round pick with a mural in the city.

Thybulle paid a visit to the location one more time on Thursday before he left town. Hooded up, pulled out a can of spray paint to get his message out. He wrote, “Thank you, Philly,” before taking off.

The young veteran is now Portland-bound. After spending 245 games with the Sixers over the span of his four-year career, Thybulle will get a fresh start with the Trail Blazers soon enough.
