Training camps are just opening around the NBA, and Luka Doncic has already suffered an injury.

Doncic suffered a calf injury while working out in Dallas over the weekend, according to NBA reporter Marc Stein. Stein says Doncic suffered the injury while working out before the team arrived in Las Vegas for training camp.

The Dallas Mavericks public relations staff announced that Doncic would miss a week and will be unavailable for the team’s preseason opener against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

The injury was bad enough that Doncic apparently underwent an MRI.

Doncic is entering his seventh season in the NBA and has blossomed into one of the best players in the league. The 25-year-old Slovenian has made five straight All-Star teams and has been honored as a first-team All-NBA player five years in a row.

Last season, Doncic averaged a career-high 33.9 points per game, along with 9.2 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game. Dallas is hoping the injury won’t prevent Doncic from being available on opening night. Its first game is on Oct. 24.
