Mavericks Make Another Training Camp Move Before Preseason

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks signed guard-forward Seth Lundy on Saturday, bringing their 2026-27 training camp roster to 20 players. Per team policy, Dallas did not disclose terms. Lundy will wear No. 31.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported Friday that Lundy had agreed to a training camp deal with Dallas after missing the previous two seasons because of injuries. His last NBA minutes came with the Atlanta Hawks in 2023-24, when he appeared in nine games as a rookie.

A day earlier, the Mavericks signed center Dwight Powell as the 19th player in camp. Dallas carries 15 players on standard contracts and three on two-way deals, which leaves Powell and Lundy as the two players in camp outside those 18 contracts. NBA teams can carry 21 players through training camp and 15 on standard contracts in the regular season.

Of those 15 standard deals, center Moussa Cissé holds the only 2026-27 salary that is not fully guaranteed. The rest of his $2,185,116 salary guarantees Oct. 1 if Dallas does not waive him before then.

Seth Lundy’s Road Back From Left Ankle Surgery

With the Toronto Raptors at the 2026 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Lundy averaged 20.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals across four games. He shot 52.0% from the field, 43.8% from 3-point range, and 100% at the free-throw line. Lundy scored 23 of his 80 Summer League points on July 11 against the Houston Rockets, when he also had 5 rebounds.

Lundy played four seasons at Penn State and averaged 10.5 points across 122 games, 96 of them starts. Atlanta selected him in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft with the 46th overall pick.

On a two-way contract as a rookie, Lundy averaged 1.6 points in 5.8 minutes over nine games with the Hawks. His NBA debut came Dec. 15, 2023, at Toronto. He also played 12 games that season for the College Park Skyhawks, Atlanta’s G League affiliate, where he averaged 23.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting 50.8% from the field, 41.9% from 3-point range, and 80.0% from the line.

In May 2024, the Hawks announced that Lundy had surgery to remove a bone spur from his left ankle. He returned to Atlanta on another two-way deal that summer and aggravated the ankle during the preseason. The Hawks waived him in December 2024 before he played a regular-season game.

On March 1, 2025, the LA Clippers signed Lundy to a two-year, two-way contract. He never appeared for the Clippers or their G League affiliate, and Los Angeles waived him in July 2025, when he still had not been cleared for game action and was left off its Las Vegas Summer League roster.

The camp roster lists Lundy at 6-4 and 220 pounds as a guard-forward, the same designation as Jett Howard, who is on a two-way contract. Cooper Flagg is listed at forward-guard.

Dallas also lists Max Christie and Tarik Biberović at guard, along with Naji Marshall, Caleb Martin, and Zaccharie Risacher at forward. Risacher came from Atlanta on July 19 in a three-team trade that also involved the Oklahoma City Thunder. Two weeks later, on Aug. 2, Marshall signed a multi-year contract extension.

Mavericks coach Dusty May, who was hired June 22, opens his first preseason in Macao, where Dallas meets the Rockets at The Venetian Arena on Oct. 9 and Oct. 11 as part of the NBA China Games. After returning home, the Mavericks host the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 14 and the Hawks, who drafted Lundy, on Oct. 16. Both games tip off at 7 p.m. CT.

Teams have until 4 p.m. CT on Oct. 19 to set opening-night rosters, two days before Dallas visits Houston for the regular-season opener at 7:30 p.m. CT on Oct. 21.
