NBA rumors continue to swirl as to what the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers will do next ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. There continues to be an interest in where Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler will land amid the very public standoff between the two parties.

It appears that the Mavs have already made a decision about the idea of another potential blockbuster NBA trade. Insider Jake Fischer reported that the Mavericks do not plan to make a run at Butler after acquiring Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic.

"That [trading for Jimmy Butler] was a rumor going around this morning," Fischer detailed on a Bleacher Report live stream on Sunday. "I've checked it with multiple people.

"I've been told from multiple people with knowledge of the situation that the Mavericks are not trying to go pursue Jimmy Butler right now. That's one thing I can say, but they're up to something."

Fischer went on to add that the Mavs do plan to make more moves as indicated by Davis turning down his $5.9 million trade kicker. It was a decision made by the big man in order to allow Dallas more flexibility to make additional roster moves.

The Mavericks traded Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris and a 2025 second rounder in the three-team deal that also involved the Utah Jazz. Dallas landed Davis, Max Christie and a Lakers 2029 first-round pick as part of the blockbuster deal.
