According to NBA insider Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal, the Dallas Mavericks are not interested in Bradley Beal.
The Phoenix Suns and Beal will agree to a buyout soon, but the Mavericks will not pursue the veteran shooting guard.
Beal is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors or Milwaukee Bucks.
“The Suns and Beal are increasingly optimistic that the two sides will agree to terms on a buyout, league sources tell The Athletic,” NBA insider Fred Katz of The Athletic wrote. “The move would make Beal an unrestricted free agent. … According to a league source, the list of teams Beal has thought about includes the LA Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks.”
A Florida product, Beal played in 53 games for the Suns last season. The 32-year-old averaged 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 49.7% from the field, 38.6% from beyond the arc and 80.3% from the free-throw line.
Beal has appeared in 801 NBA games with the Washington Wizards and Suns. He has career averages of 21.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 46.4% overall, 37.6% from 3 and 82.1% from the foul line.
The Suns won zero postseason games in the Beal era. They were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2024 playoffs and missed the postseason last season.
The Mavericks drafted Cooper Flagg with the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. They now have a strong core of Flagg, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson and Daniel Gafford.
Dallas drafted Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers last season and missed the playoffs after making the 2024 NBA Finals.
