The Dallas Mavericks are set to face the Miami Heat on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Dallas enters the game as the No. 8 team in the Western Conference standings with a 29-26 record. They're coming off a 111-107 victory over the Golden State Warriors, set to play in the second night of a back-to-back.
Just before the Mavericks were set to take the floor against the Heat, Dallas star Kyrie Irving was ruled out of the game with a shoulder injury, per Joey Mistretta.
Despite playing nearly 24 hours ago, the Mavericks will be without their superstar guard who posted 42 points and seven rebounds against Golden State.
Irving will be sidelined along with Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively, and Dwight Powell.
So far this season, Irving has averaged 24.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, leading the Mavericks in points and assists.
Irving will have another opportunity to return to the court after the NBA's All-Star break on Feb. 21 at 8:30 p.m. ET against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Despite the injury, the 32-year-old has been named to his ninth NBA All-Star game, which is set to tip off on Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
