The Dallas Mavericks will be taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers this Friday. Amidst speculations about a possible franchise sale, the team has looked quite lacklustre in their approach. While at the beginning the franchise aspired to a proven championship run, they are now busy trying to salvage whatever little is left of their season. On the contrary, the Cleveland Cavaliers will have every reason to put up a fierce fight. After acquiring James Harden in a blockbuster trade, the team is expecting some great things to come.
Currently, the Mavericks are firmly out of the playoff race. Despite Cooper Flagg coming up with his heroics, Dallas is lingering in 13th place in the West. They have managed to win only 21 while losing out on 44 games. And to make matters further worse, the team has lost eight consecutive games. But they do have a silver lining if Dallas can chip in with some quality wins. That will open the play-in doors for Flagg and co.
But in reality, the Mavericks’ next assignment at the American Airlines Center will be far from easy. Even considering the fact that Kenny Atkinson’s men are coming on the back of a shock 128-122 loss against the Orlando Magic. Seeded fourth in the East, the Cavaliers are conceiving dreams about winning the championship.
Riding on the back of some stellar performances from James Harden and Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland is definitely dreaming big. Add to the fact that Cleveland demolished Dallas 144-101 when they last met in February 2025. Thus, with all signs pointing towards a Cleveland victory, the Mavericks will have a hard time coping up.

Each team will announce its final starting lineups ahead of the game.
The Dallas Mavericks and the Cleveland Cavaliers have played a total of 87 regular-season games together. While the contest was pretty much neck-and-neck, Cleveland has the upper hand with 47 wins. However, with 40 wins at the moment, Dallas would want to register their 41st this Friday.
Looking back at their recent rivalry, the Cavaliers have reigned supreme. In their last 10 games, Dallas has only managed to pick up 3 victories. Interestingly, the Mavericks have gone winless against Cleveland for the previous three seasons. Their last win came way back on March 30, 2022.
