Memphis Grizzlies starting point guard Ja Morant has a left ankle injury and is considered week-to-week.

Morant, 26, sprained his left ankle on Sunday during practice.

One of the best players in the NBA, Morant appeared in 50 games for the Grizzlies last season. He averaged 23.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.3 assists while shooting 45.4% from the field, 30.9% from beyond the arc and 82.4% from the foul line.

The Grizzlies lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in four games. Morant got hurt in Game 3 and didn’t play in Game 4.

Morant was the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Grizzlies have won just one playoff series since drafting Morant out of Murray State.

The 2019-20 Rookie of the Year, Morant has career averages of 22.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.4 assists. He signed a five-year, $197 million extension with Memphis in 2022.

Ja Morant will make $39.4 million this season, $42.2 million in the 2026-27 season and $44.9 million in the 2027-28 season, which is the final year of his contract.

The Grizzlies made a blockbuster trade in the offseason, sending Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic for Kentavious Caldwell-PopeCole Anthony, the 16th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, three future first-round picks and a first-round pick swap in 2029.

Memphis waived Anthony, who signed with the Milwaukee Bucks.
