Jimmy Butler wants to leave the Miami Heat. The organization seem keen on ending this saga before the trade deadline. The Phoenix Suns appear to be the only team seriously interested in acquiring him.
The Suns also seemed to stock up for a potential Butler trade by trading for added draft capital.
On paper, it feels like an easy decision to make. Butler joins the Suns. Everyone is happy. In reality, finding a suitable trade won't be as simple.
It is more than likely that a third team would need to be involved in order to make it work. And that is where the Los Angeles Lakers could come into the mix.
In FadeAway World, Ishaan Bhattacharya proposed a three-team trade that would see the Suns receive Butler. The Heat would get Bradley Beal, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent and 2029 First-Round Pick (UTA/MIN/CLE). The Lakers would receive Terry Rozier and 2027 First-Round Pick (UTA/MIN/CLE).
By playing the role of a facilitating team, the Lakers would land a guard in Rozier and also a first-round draft pick.
Rozier has not exactly shined since moving to Miami but in the past, he has shown that he can be a consistent scorer in the right system. At his best, he could be a solid addition to the Lakers, who do need some help if they are to succeed in the postseason.
Of course, this deal would still revolve around Beal waiving his no-trade clause. There have also been rumors in the past that the Heat are not keen on adding the 31-year-old following his struggles with the Suns.
But just like Rozier, Beal has shown in the past that he can be a consistent scorer in the right system. In fact, he was one of the best in the league in that regard while with the Washington Wizards. If or when Butler leaves, the Heat could do with a primary or secondary scorer.
