The Miami Heat may have found their third option behind Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo – according to one of their newest stars.
The Miami Heat are currently in a state of flux as a franchise. After a disappointing end to the 2025-26 NBA season, they are looking to bounce back.
The Heat failed to land Kevin Durant this offseason, meaning they enter the new NBA season without a superstar.
However, that isn’t to say they didn’t make any major moves. The Heat landed Norman Powell in a three-team trade early in the summer.
And if Powell himself is to be believed, that’s all they need, as he can form a big three with All-Stars Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
Norman Powell spoke to Marc J. Spears of Andscape in a recent interview. The former LA Clippers star backed himself and the Heat to find success.
Powell called himself a budding star behind Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, and thinks that the Heat roster is strong enough to compete and should be feared.
“We can be really good. One thing that people don’t understand or see is that you don’t need a generational superstar or talent to be good to go and win a championship and have a deep playoff run.
“[You can have a deep playoff run] Having a well-rounded team with experience with star players, which we have in Bam and Tyler – and I see myself as well as a budding star even though I’m 32 now.
“But [it helps] having that experience with Wiggins, guys that have won championships and know what it takes to be successful.
“We have a great team built around guys who have an opportunity to step up and play bigger roles. And [we have] a team that’s hungry and ready to compete, ready to go after it and prove people wrong.
“We have the DNA to be a team to be feared going into the season.”

Regardless of how good Norman Powell thinks he and the Miami Heat can be, there’s no denying that they aren’t a competitive team in the Eastern Conference.
Right now, their goal is to develop their young players as well as possible. Rookie Kasparas Jakucionis could be the Heat’s most exciting star.
But their young squad doesn’t guarantee any kind of failure. In fact, one NBA expert thinks Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is too good to fail and will get the squad to perform at a high level no matter what.
This season is going to be an interesting one for the Miami Heat, as they look to navigate the murky waters of the Eastern Conference and try to find their way forward.
