Miami Heat Won’t Trade Andrew Wiggins, Open to Trading Terry Rozier

The Miami Heat won’t trade Andrew Wiggins, but they are open to trading Terry Rozier, according to NBA reporter Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.

Rozier, who remains under federal investigation on a potential gambling probe, will make $26.6 million next season in the final year of his contract.

“A league source confirmed to the Miami Herald that the Heat’s plan is to keep Andrew Wiggins on its roster for the start of training camp in late September, barring something unforeseen,” Chiang wrote. “But the Heat remains open to trading guard Terry Rozier ahead of the start of this upcoming season, according to multiple league sources.”

The Heat spoke to the Washington Wizards about a Rozier-Marcus Smart trade. A trade didn’t happen, though, and Smart signed with the Los Angeles Lakers after getting bought out by the Wizards. 

Rozier appeared in 64 games for the Heat last season. The veteran guard averaged 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 39.1% from the field, 29.5% from beyond the arc and 85.2% from the free-throw line.

Wiggins will make $28.2 million next season. He has a player option worth $30.2 million for the 2026-27 season. The Heat acquired the forward from the Golden State Warriors in the blockbuster Jimmy Butler trade.

The first pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Wiggins put up 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game with the Warriors and Heat last season while shooting 44.8% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 76.3% from the free-throw line. 

Miami was swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.

The Heat have been busy this offseason. They traded Kyle Anderson and Kevin Love to the Utah Jazz and acquired Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers in the three-team deal.

Hall of Famer Pat Riley also traded Duncan Robinson to the Detroit Pistons for Simone Fontecchio and re-signed Davion Mitchell.
