The Miami Heat have previously been labeled as buyers heading into the 2025 offseason, as team president Pat Riley will aim to help the franchise make a swift return towards the top of the Eastern Conference standings in 2025-26.

Though the team may be in the market to add another superstar talent into the mix to complement their duo of first-time All-Star scorer Tyler Herro and dominant defensive center Bam Adebayo, recent reports have indicated that the latter could instead be on the move.

With the immediate future of the Heat remaining uncertain, FanSided's Michael Saenz suggested that in an effort to re-tool, Adebayo should be dealt in exchange for a sizable haul from a rising Western Conference squad.

"If the (San Antonio) Spurs are open to other trade possibilities, I can't help but wonder if they could benefit from calling the Miami Heat and making an offer that they couldn't deny for Bam Adebayo," Saenz wrote Saturday.

"Trading Bam could help the Heat reset their timeline."

"And with the myriad of assets that the Spurs have at their disposal, there's a reason to believe that the Heat could be offered a package that could make them very happy."

After garnering a reputation for his aggressiveness when pursuing potential talent in the NBA's offseason through negotiating massive trades or courting top-tier free agents, Riley is expected to either diagram a franchise-altering transaction or sign a marquee talent in the coming months.

Though Miami's front office might be looking to swing for the fences in this regard, it's also not set in tone that their top brass won't consider a more drastic re-tooling process, one that would require Adebayo's tenure with the franchise to be terminated.

The San Antonio Spurs' bevy of young talent and enticing draft capital could very well lead a team like Miami to abandon the idea of competing in the present in favor of building a potential future juggernaut.

If the Heat were to gauge the 3-time All-Defensive Team selection's value this summer, the organization could rather easily ship him out for a package consisting of Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan and up to four first-round draft selections due to Adebayo's immense value as an outstanding rim-deterrent and agile perimeter defender at the center position.
