A successful Summer League proved valuable for rookie Mike Miles Jr. After averaging 12.2 points and 3.8 assists per game, the 6-2 guard was offered a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks and will now split time between them and their G-League affiliate, the Texas Legends.

"Mike has been a winner at every level of basketball, from his gold medal experience with Team USA in 2021 to his state championship game run at Lancaster High School to multiple winning seasons at TCU," said Mavs GM Nico Harrison.

"Mike is a strong, physical guard who competes on both ends of the floor. This past season at TCU, he showcased his dynamic scoring ability while maintaining great efficiency. He will bring some local Dallas toughness and competitive spirit to our group."

Miles, whose alma mater, TCU, is just about 45 minutes from the American Airlines Center in Fort Worth, is also from the Dallas area. With a past steeped in Dallas culture, Miles' dedication to the city cannot be understated. Being undrafted has only added to Miles’ motivation to once again prove himself in the city he has called home.

"I don't have to go anywhere and pack up and move," Miles said during Summer League. "I grew up 20 minutes from here, so it's a blessing."

As a smaller guard, Miles' toughness and strength for his size proves valuable in driving situations, and his ball handling, combined with his playmaking, has proved valuable in scoring off the dribble and finding others for easy points.

"I just play my game," Miles said. "Obviously, everyone knows I can attack [the rim]...People don't think I can shoot as good, but I actually can. I'm a pretty good shooter if I may say so. I'm just trying to show everybody my game, show that I am the same player and I'm a good player."

This season, Miles looks to give the Legends — and potentially the Mavs at some point in the future — the same high energy he did at TCU.
