I focus on football, I’m an expert on football. But as a sports fan, I have opinions on many different sports. In this edition of Mike On Sports, I talk about how ridiculous people are in regards to Bronny James expectations.
I’m getting sick of it. Bronny James isn’t a NBA caliber basketball player, he’s not even close. He couldn’t average more than 5 points in college and would likely be the third or fourth guard on many power college rosters. And yet guys like Kendrick Perkins and Nick Wright, absolute LeBron James shills, are claiming he’s going to be a legit NBA player?
This is ridiculous. Perkins says Bronny will provide quality minutes as soon as January and Wright says Bronny will go down as one of the best picks overall in this draft. Huh? For a kid who wouldn’t start for UConn, Kansas, Alabama and others next season? It’s insane.
We all know JJ Reddick will have to give Bronny valuable minutes. LeBron, who hand picked Reddick, will make him do so. And we all know LeBron, Anthony Davis and others will mentor the kid unlike any other NBA prospect has ever been mentored. The opportunity is there. But it’s the talent that’s not. You can give opportunities and guidance to a player but if he lacks genuine talent it won’t matter. And this wasted effort will be part of the downfall of the Lakers. This is a team that hasn’t had home court advantage in the playoffs in ages and is closer to the play in game than competing for a NBA title and now they are wasting time and effort on a kid who doesn’t belong.
LeBron has a cult following similar to guys like Deion Sanders and others. As an icon, he can do no wrong to some. But those who think this is all cool, smart and great, you’re fooling yourself. I wrote about how this is horrible for Bronny and close to child abuse and some of the national media are buying into this garbage situation. So to Perk and Wright, you’re way off. This kid will be terrible and when he is, LeBron will blame his chosen coach, Reddick, and the scapegoating will begin.
