The Milwaukee Bucks may not have had Damian Lillard, and they may have been trailing the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers 39-25 at the end of the first quarter, but Giannis Antetokounmpo would not be denied on Thursday night. He led the Bucks to 126-113 victory in Philadelphia as Milwaukee improved to 42-34 on the season and into fifth place in the NBA Eastern Conference.
The Detroit Pistons have an identical 42-34 record, but the Bucks hold the tie-breaker thanks to leading the season series against them 2-1. Milwaukee will face Detroit two more times this season, first on April 11 and then again on April 13.
The win also moved Bucks head coach Doc Rivers into sole possession of seventh place on the NBA’s all-time wins list among coaches.
As mentioned, the Bucks were without Lillard, who is dealing with blood clots in his calf. Since he has not been able to play, Milwaukee as oftentimes struggled offensively, as was the case in the first quarter against Philadelphia.
But Giannis is on a mission to improve the Bucks’ seeding in the Eastern Conference. And he certainly put on a show while trying to accomplish that goal on Thurday.
The Greek Freak finished the night with 35 points, 17 rebounds, and a career-high 20 assists to go with two steals. Per multiple sources, the two-time NBA MVP is the first player in league history to have at least 35 points, 15 rebounds, and 20 assists in a game:

It certainly helped that, after the opening period, the rest of Milwaukee’s players started to get hot from the field. As a team, the Bucks shot 56.1% from the field and 51.6% from three.
Brook Lopez had 17 points, three rebounds, and three blocks. Kyle Kuzma had 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, a steal, and three blocks.
Taurean Prince had 13 points, one rebound, one assist, and one steal. Ryan Rollins, starting in place of Lillard again, had 10 points, two rebounds, and an assist.
Every Bucks starter, the players listed above, shot 50% or better from the field.
For his part, Giannis was 12-19 from the floor (1-1 from three) and 10-11 from the free throw line.
Off the bench, Gary Trent Jr. had 13 points, two rebounds, an assist, and three steals. AJ Green, playing in his first game back after an AC joint sprain, had 12 points while shooting 4-5 from three.
